THREE WATERSIDE VENUES FOR A HOLISTIC EXPERIENCE

Written by: Sue - 27th April 2019

It is an ancient belief that water holds sacred and healing properties. Scientific research into the benefits of 'blue space' seems to support this. It is worth considering that to hold meetings, special events or conferences in waterside spots might just provide a holistic experience for delegates. Here we make three venue suggestions.

Research reveals that spending time in waterside settings - whether river, lake or sea - could help to  ...

stabilise heart rate and blood pressure, aiding physical wellbeing

induce calm, tranquil and open feelings, as the colour blue is shown to aid mental wellbeing

create closer connections - with ourselves, the environment around us and those we encounter in that environment at the time.

So rivers, lakes and sea would seem to be compatible settings for  teambuilding and bonding sessions, but if delegates feel well, calm and open they are more likely to also experience clarity and creativity - great news indeed for any business gathering. Waterside could be when the 'light-bulb' moments descend!

Good Hotel, London - partner Hotel REZ

Sometimes known as the floating boat hotel, this venue is set in Royal Victoria Docks, East London and boasts views over the river Thames any delegate would relish waking up to. Many of the 148 quirky bedrooms here offer outlooks over the water. A new rooftop terrace is a distinctive space in which to host gatherings of up to 150 guests. Smart, stylish meeting rooms, bar and restaurant complete the special offering.

Good spot - near Royal Victoria DLR, Emirates Airline, ExCel and London City Airport

The Belsfield, Lake District - partner Laura Ashley Hotels

On the eastern shore of Lake Windermere, in the pretty village of Bowness, proudly stands The Belsfield - elevated over a breathtaking view. Juxtaposed with the idyllic setting is a state-of-the-art, contemporary conference and meeting capability, together with the services of excellent teambuilding and activity specialists. By retreating from the city into this area of stunning natural beauty, you might just inspire the team to new heights of creativity and productivity.

Crowne Plaza Marlow Hotel - partner IHG

The Winterlake Conference Centre at this beautiful Buckinghamshire venue - with its 10 meetings and events rooms - is currently undergoing a major refurbishment as part of a multi-million pound programme also encompassing bedrooms, public areas, Glaze Restaurant, Aqua Bar and Conservatory.  So much therapeutic 'green space' here within the venue's five acres of pleasing grounds as well as 'blue space' with the gorgeous lake. Another blissful retreat!
